Tetra Pak has become the first company in India’s food and beverage packaging industry to integrate certified recycled polymers into their packaging

Tetra Pak declared that it has presented packaging materials combined with certified recycled polymers in India, becoming the first enterprise in the food and beverage packaging industry in the country to do so.

The regulations will come into impact on April 1, 2025, and intend to decrease plastic waste and elevate using recycled content in packaging, the Swedish multinational packaging enterprises stated in a press launch.

In this new supplying functions carton packages that contain 5% certified recycled polymers, consistent with the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change’s authorization under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2022.

The packaging material utilized by Tetra Pak is licensed by ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification), a globally recognized sustainability certification system, reasoned the multinational enterprise. This certification ensures that the recycled polymers used of their packaging meet excessive requirements of environmental respnsibility.

“We are proud to be the primary carton packaging producer to deliver packaging material with 5% licensed recycled polymers to India. This recycled content is sourced locally, and the packaging material is manufactured at our ISCC PLUS-licensed factory in Chakan, Pune,” stated Cassio Simões, Managing Director of Tetra Pak South Asia.

Tetra Pak’s actions agrees with global efforts to grow recycling rates and make recycling greater economically feasible. By incorporating recycled content, the enterprise support in create a marketplace for recycled materials, encouraging multiplied recycling infrastructure.

“The transition to mainstream adoption of materials like plant-based and recycled polymers continues to be a work in progress. Our last purpose is to make certain that each one our packaging is made from renewable or recycled polymers, disposing of reliance on fossil feedstock,” added Simões.
