US-based chemicals supplier, SI Group, and China’s Shengxiao Group, a leader in liquid crystal polymer (LCP) monomers and specialty chemical substances, have formed a joint venture, Shengnova Advanced Materials, to expand biphenol capacity in China.
Based in Sichuan, China, Shengnova Advanced Materials integrates Shengxiao Group’s current biphenol production asset and regional market access with SI Group’s proprietary technology and global biphenol expertise, targeting to increase local supply of the molecule. Biphenol is a key monomer used in liquid crystal polymers, polyphenylenesulphone and other applications, with the venture positioning both partners to support increasing demand across electronics, automotive and medical sectors.
