Nayara Energy completes major 2026 Vadinar refinery turnaround bolstering energy security

Nayara Energy has effectively finished its 2026 turnaround on the Vadinar refinery on schedule. This marks a main operational milestone for India’s second-largest single-site refinery and strengthening the company’s role in safeguarding the nation’s energy security.

The large-scale renovation, inspection and upgrade software was carried out amid a hard worldwide geopolitical environment, showing Nayara Energy’s operational resilience and its ability to undertake complicated refinery interventions even as maintaining uninterrupted fuel supply.

A main pillar of India’s energy infrastructure, Nayara Energy contributes around 8% of the natin’s overall refining capacity and round 7% of its retail fuel network, alongside an increasing petrochemicals business. At the heart of this ecosystem is the Vadinar refinery, which performs a crucial function in meeting domestic fuel demand at scale.

Periodic refinery turnarounds are among the industry’s most critical planned activities, formed to hold protection, reliability and long-term operational performance. The successful completion of the 2026 turnaround underscores Nayara Energy’s commitment to making sure constant and reliable energy availability for India.

The turnaround was performed through a extremely coordinated, cross-functional effort including operations, maintenance, safety, procurement, logistics and workforce management teams. More than 34,000 personnel participated within the exercise, guided by about 480 pieces of heavy equipment, which include 180 cranes, emphasizing the scale and complexity of the operation.

Beyond important renovation work, the company used the shutdown period to improve refinery capabilities and drive efficiency upgrades. Numerous value-enhancement ventures had been executed to enhance product quality, optimize process performance and support longer operating cycles between future maintenance shutdowns.

Nayara Energy also launch energy conservation initiatives across refinery units targets at decreasing consumption and reducing emissions depth, helping the corporation’s broader sustainability goals.

Safety remained a top priority throughout the turnaround. The company deployed a dependent safety management framework that included mandatory task-precise training, drone-enabled protection communication and rigorous adherence to operational protocols.

The massive operation was further guided through advanced technology and strong on-site infrastructure. AI-driven crowd movement management was used to coordinate a peak workforce rising 35,000 personnel, whilst around 450,000 meals were served on-site and committed cooling arrangements were put in place to assist groups working in demanding conditions.

The successful completion of the turnaround reinforce the long-term period reliability and competitiveness of the Vadinar refinery, positioning Nayara Energy to retain meeting India’s growing energy requires even as enhancing operational efficiency and infrastructure resilience.
