China to spearhead global ethylene oxide ability additions through 2028, says GlobalData

In China, highest capacity addition is predicted from the “Shandong Yulong Petrochemical Longkou Ethylene Oxide Plant 1” with a capacity of 0.73 mtpa

China is probably to sign up the highest ethylene oxide ability additions globally by 2028, giving about 75% of the entire potential additions from upcoming planned and introduced ventures, according to GlobalData, a main data and analytics enterprise.

GlobalData’s current report states that, “Ethylene Oxide Industry Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of Active and Planned Plants to 2028,” exhibits that China is possibly to witness a entire ethylene oxide capability additions of 5.43 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in the course of 2024-28 from eleven prepared and two introduced ventures.

Nivedita Roy, Oil and Gas Analyst at GlobalData, remarks: “Ethylene oxide is one of the primary petrochemicals, in particular used as a precursor to various chemical products and derivatives. The increasing demand for ethylene oxide in China’s textile and healthcare sectors is driving the need for ability expansions in the country.”

In China, the best capacity addition is anticipated from the “Shandong Yulong Petrochemical Longkou Ethylene Oxide Plant 1” with a capacity of 0.73 mtpa. The plant is expected to begin ethylene oxide manufacturing in 2024 in the state of Shandong.

The second best potential addition in the country is from “BASF Zhanjiang Ethylene Oxide Plant” with 0.66 mtpa. The plant is presently under construction and is expected to start operations by way of 2025. BASF Corp has 100% fairness as well as the proposed operator of the plant.

“Tangshan Xu Yang Petrochemical Tangshan Ethylene Oxide Plant” follows subsequent, and is predicted to start operations in 2027 with an annual manufacturing capacity of 0.65 mtpa.
