Arkema Expands PVDF Manufacturing Capacity 20% at China Facility

The Changshu site is Arkema’s largest PVDF production location worldwide, with the latest unit anticipated to begin up in 2028.

Arkema, headquartered in Colombes, France, declared a 20% expansion of PVDF manufacturing ability at its Changshu, China production site, with startup planned for 2028.

As per the corporation, the extra capability is supposed to support demand throughout multiple markets, together with lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage system, high-overall performance coatings, chemical processing, semiconductor production, water filtration and wire and cable applications.

Arkema said the venture is supported through its global R&D network, which includes facilities in China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United States. The corporation stated these centers support collaboration with customers and development of high-overall performance polymer solutions.

The Changshu expansion follows a earlier declared a 15% capacity increase at Arkema’s PVDF manufacturing site in Calvert City, Kentucky, representing an funding of about $20 million. That enlargement, declared in February 2025, targets on PVDF grades for electric automobile manufacturing, energy storage systems, semiconductor and cable markets, with startup deliberate for the second quarter of 2026. Arkema also manufactures PVDF at its Pierre-Benite site in France.

In other current capacity news, Arkema begun up a latest transparent polyamide manufacturing unit at its Singapore manufacturing platform in January 2026. As per the corporation, the facility represents an investment of around $20 million and offers Arkema the largest transparent polyamide manufacturing capability in Asia. The unit serves markets consisting of electronics, industrial filtration and healthcare devices.
