Birla Opus Paints, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group’s Grasim Industries, has commencement of industrial production at the enterprise’s fourth manufacturing plant in Chamarajanagar, Mysore.

The new facility, which adds 230 million litres per annum (mlpa) to the enterprise’s potential, takes the whole production potential of Birla Opus Paints to 866-mlpa, making it the second biggest ornamental paints player through set up potential, Birla Opus Paints said in a press launch.
The new facility will produce water-primarily based paints, enamel paints, and timber end paints, providing zero liquid discharge and fourth-generation manufacturing technology.
This development is part of the enterprise’s formidable expansion plan, which plan to establish six manufacturing plants with a blended capacity of 1,332-mlpa. The total upfront funding for the venture is Rs 10,000 crore out of which it has invested Rs. 8,470-crore. Two extra plants are in development, with the Mahad plant near Pune in trial production and the Kharagpur plant near Kolkata underneath construction.
Birla Opus Paints, released in 2024, has already delivered 129 products with over 900 SKUs throughout diverse categories. Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said that the enterprise is on track to gain its revenue goal of Rs. 10,000-crore within the first three years of complete-scale operations.
He also highlighted that the Chamarajanagar plant could cater specially to the growing call for in the southern region, aligning with the venture’s growth strategy.
