Cleantech business group, ACME, and IHI Corporation, Japan’s incorporated heavy industry group, have introduced significant progress on the growth of “India’s biggest” green ammonia venture in Gopalpur, Odisha.

Since the signing of an first Memo-randum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023, the venture has attained significant mile stones, including the formation of a joint venture partnership – ACME Clean Energy Pvt. Ltd. – and IHI’s acquisition of a 30% stake in the jv, the corporation stated in a introduce. Also, the necessary land for the venture has been secured, and the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) has been successfully finished, the statement added. The facility is planned to manufacture about 0.4-million tons of green ammonia yearly upon completion. The green ammonia will be delivered specifically to Japanese end-users within the power and chemical sectors allowing the long term decarbonization aims of Japan.

The two companions are actually advancing certain venture development activities, which include EPC contracting, renewable energy incorporation, and ammonia evacuation infrastructure arrangements. The plant is aimed for commissioning by 2029-30, with manufacturing earmarked for exports in particular to Japan.

The ACME–IHI collaboration at once helps this shared vision by generating a big-scale supply chain for green ammonia among India and Japan, ACME stated in the press notice.

Mr. Hiroshi Ide, President and CEO of IHI, stated, “By this collaboration, we goal to secure green ammonia fuel value chains that will advantage each India and Japan, while helping worldwide decarbonization aims.”
