India is launching a Technology Collaboration Portal (TCL) to connect research institutions with the chemical industry.

The portal aims to facilitate technology transfer and domestic manufacturing, reducing reliance on imports. Over one thousand industries and forty institutions have already registered, with more advocated to enroll in.

The centre will soon release a Technology Collaboration Portal(TCL) to act as a bridge between research institutions and the chemical manufacturing industry. This portal will permit the chemicals industries to elevate requests of technology tranfer and information help for localising production stated Nivedita Shukla Verma , Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals.

These requests can be responded with the aid of research institutions that will have access to assistance being sought.

Verma stated research institutions are being encouraged to list all their available capabilities at the portal, which is still work-in-progress, to help domestic industry get a better assessment of centers available in the country.

“About 1000 industries have registered on that portal and approximately 40 institutions have come online,” she said requesting as research institutions to also be a part of and showcase available technology. “That will help them to reach the industry and transfer technology,” Verma said.

Highlighting the demanding situations of imports before the Indian industry, Verma said, “There are some countries that are extra advanced than us in technology, so there may be only limited amount of protection that our industry may get because of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) regulations.”

“We face some inherent challenges of raw material availability,” she said while adding that, the only solution for the situation is to expand new technology in the country.

Verma additionally requested to ask, the chemical industry to share raw materials and manufacturing data with the centre. This will help higher plan policies for addressing worries of the sector.
