RSPL Group’s industrial chemicals arm, SOKA, is prepared to power India’s industrial and clean energy push while driving employment, infrastructure development, and industrial development in Gujarat.

SOKA has acquired environmental clearance to increase its soda ash production capacity to 1 million tons per annum at its coastal Gujarat plant.

Already among India’s leading soda ash manufacturers, SOKA will increase output from the recent 500,000 tons to one million tons per year, at the same time as also including sodium bicarbonate (SBC) to its manufacturing portfolio.

An instant expansion is underway to increase capability to 750,000 tons yearly over the subsequent two years, with an extra 250,000 tons coming from its cutting-edge inorganic chemical complex. The corporation anticipates to attain its full one-million-ton capacity in the near future.

The expansion is predicted to form around 2,000 new jobs in Gujarat’s coastal region, in step with the memorandum of understanding signed in 2023, notably reinforcing the local group of workers and positioning SOKA as one of the country’s primary soda ash producers.

The capability growth will even strengthen SOKA’s target on soda ash for solar glass, a crucial input for solar panels, strengthening India’s renewable energy supply-chain. Soda Ash Light is broadly utilized in detergent production and is important for water treatments, chemical production, and the pulp and paper industry.

Soda Ash Dense is mainly utilized in glass production—along with flat, go float, and container glass—and also finds applications in metallurgy, ceramics, dyes, textiles, and different industrial methods.

Speaking on the milestone, Tinku Chhabra, CEO, SOKA, stated, “The environmental clearance to advance our soda ash production capacity is a huge step in advancing the ‘Make in India’ vision. Our plant performs a crucial position in reinforcing the domestic industrial ecosystem by means of delivering important raw materials to main sectors consisting of detergents, glass, solar glass, textiles, and chemicals.

“As we accelerate , we stay committed to adopting advanced technologies, and integrating sustainable practices throughout operations. At SOKA, our target extends beyond production to assisting local economy, generating employment and long-term livelihoods, and driving responsible development by sturdy CSR projects—strengthening RSPL’s dedication to India’s journey closer to self-reliance and sustainable industrial development.”

Commissioned in 2019 in Gujarat’s Dwarka district, SOKA’s greenfield soda ash facility has quickly set up a global footprint, exporting to almost 50 nations across Central America, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. The 500,000 MTPY plant is powered by NIOCHIM’s technology, engineered via Jacobs Engineering (WorleyParsons India), and assisted by of a captive co-generation power facility.
