Rise in quality consciousness among Indian manufacturers, automotive and chemicals lead: CII study

Indian manufacturers are becoming more quality-conscious, especially in the automotive and chemicals industries. They are adopting global certifications and protocols

New Delhi- Indian producers are experiencing a rise in quality awareness, with the automotive and chemicals sectors heading the adoption of worldwide certifications and quality protocols, a examine by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) stated.

The CII producing Competitiveness Study , titled, ‘Increasing the Standard: Quality Transformation of Indian production’ further delivered that other sectors, inclusive of capital goods and FMCG, are alignment with global benchmarks to enhance exports and sales growth.

The study identifies key challenges, in particular for SMEs, including excessive implementation prices, constrained access to technology, and skilled labour shortages. Uncertainly in national standards and insufficient testing out infrastructure further impede consistent quality across industries.

To conquer those hurdles, the reports requires focused fundings in technology, improved upskilling ambition, and greater layout with worldwide standards. It advocates sturdy Quality Management Plans Quality Management Plans (QMPs) to assure compliance, decrease defects, and enhance product consistency. Strengthening trader operation and nurturing a “quality-first” culture are critical steps to strengthen India’s level as a trusted international production hub.

Speaking about the report, Deepak Shetty, Chairman of the Council on production Excellence, CII and CEO and Managing Director, JCB India Limited, stated, “Quality isn’t just a benchmark; it is the spine of a sustainable and resilient production ecosystem. This report gives a roadmap for exceptional transformation, emphasizing key drivers and plans to help Indian producing gain international-class standards in a competitive global marketplace.”

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, stated, “In modern-day international market, in which standards and expectancies are continually increasing, the emphasis on quality is important for India’s production sector. Quality represents much extra than product reliability or customer ; it’s far a strategic differentiator that has the power to shape India’s competitive positioning global.”

The study concludes with a call for continuous developing, integration of digital equipment, and proactive quality management to place India as a worldwide production powerhouse. By prioritizing quality, Indian producers can construct credibility, force competitiveness, and steady a leading position in international markets.
