Tata Chemicals North America has disclosed that its subsidiary, Tata Chemicals Soda Ash Partners LLC (TCSAP) has signed a letter of motive (LOI) with BWXT Advanced Technologies LLC (BWXT) to discover the deployment of up to eight nuclear microreactors.
BWXT and TCSAP were participating from Sept. 2023 at the feasibility of integrating BWXT’s Advanced Nuclear Reactor (BANR) for electricity and industrial processing at TCSAP’s Green River, Wyoming production site.
“With this LOI, TCSAP and BWXT coincide with increase their partnership to include the development of commercial phrases and conditions to conditionally buy BANR microreactors from BWXT and set up the time table and key milestones along the route to deploying them by the early 2030s, in addition to together figuring out the techno economic parameters essential to show conditional reactor purchase commitments into an energy buy agreement,” a declaration from Tata Chemicals said.
Once deployed, BANR microreactors might deliver on demand electricity and process heat which are both carbon free and resilient from outside disruptions for one of the international’s leading manufacturers of high quality soda ash.
TCSAP saw nuclear power as an essential energy source in its pursuing of a more secure and sustainable supply chain and in giving a low carbon footprint product. “The LOI represents an essential subsequent step in our imaginative and prescient of producing energy in an efficient and sustainable way in order to gain the organisation, our customers and the network,” stated Mr. John Mulhall, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals North America.
