GHCL gets environment clearance for Rs. 6,500 crore, 1.1 MMTPA soda ash greenfield plant

India, which aims to reach 500 GW of installed ability of green energy with the aid of 2030, will witness a Soda Ash demand of around 7.0 MTPA

GHCL, India’s leading Chemical Company, has acquired environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its Soda Ash Greenfield ventures in Kutch, Gujarat.

The environmental clearance given on December 12, 2024, will assist the enterprise start putting in a 1.1 MMTPA Soda Ash plant over six years at a capital outlay of Rs 6,500 crore.

Commenting at the environmental clearance, R S Jalan, MD, GHCL Limited, stated,” The acclaim for the new plant of Soda Ash will play a vast function in attaining India’s vision of Green Energy and AtmaNirbharta.”

India, which targets to attain 500 GW of set up ability of green energy via 2030, will witness a Soda Ash demand of around 7.0 MTPA. Currently, India manufacturing of 3.6 MTPA of Soda Ash which is simply 6% of the global Soda Ash manufacturing capability, Jalan stated.

GHCL is currently the second largest manufacturer of soda ash in India, and it has a nearly 4 decade lengthy presence. The upcoming Greenfield ventures will nearly double its production capacities. This impending plant in Greenfield can be geared up with extremely-modern technology, with a focus on carbon neutrality by exploring the use of green energy resources.

The plant will guide the nearby community with CSR and sustainability ventures, producing direct and oblique employment. It will encourage the putting in of micro, small, and medium companies (MSMEs) inside the logistics, and packaging fabric segments, making sure increased prosperity and economic upliftment of the nearby local communities and facilitating the development of locals.
