Evonik launches Asia’s first alkoxides plant on Jurong Island

Evonik has launched its new global-scale alkoxides manufacturing facility on Jurong Island, Singapore—indicating a prime milestone in its global catalyst strategy.

First introduced in May 2023, the mid-double-digit-million-euro investment reinforces Evonik’s ability to meet growing requirement for alkoxides across Asia, at the same time as improving its commitment to sustainable, secure, and customer-targeted operations.

Created to satisfy the highest safety and environmental standards, the facility is capable of running with internet-zero Scope 1 and a pair of carbon emissions, integrating with Evonik’s broader sustainability targets. The plant’s strategic area in Southeast Asia guarantees fast response instances and depend on deliver for regional customers, helping industries along with biodiesel, pharmaceuticals, and chemical recycling.

“This facility is more than just an enlargement—it’s a statement of our long-term commitment to Asia,” stated Lauren Kjeldsen, Chief Operating Officer Custom Solutions. “By manufacturing closer toward our clients, we improve deliver security and agility, whilst also supporting to Singapore’s vision for a sustainable chemical industry.”

The commencing of the new facility was marked by using a festive ceremony joined through Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations.

“Evonik first broke the ground in 2023 and in much less than 3 years, has taken this today’s alkoxides plant to implementation — on time table and on budget. We are delighted that partners like Evonik have given us your vote of confidence via investing in Jurong Island to scale manufacturing of specialty chemicals so that it will serve developing regional and worldwide requirement,” stated Minister Fu in her speech.

The Singapore plant finishes Evonik’s global alkoxides manufacturing network, which consist sites in Germany, the America, and Argentina. With this addition, Evonik now gives a worldwide supply chain for alkoxides, created to fulfill nearby marketplace needs with speed and precision.

The foremost utility of alkoxides is the manufacturing of sustainable biodiesel fuel from vegetable oils, used cooking oils, and different fats-based waste. The utilization of alkoxides enhance the system to gain the highest possible yield of feedstock. In the synthesis of active ingredients and fine chemicals, alkoxides also locate several applications in the life science industry.
