BASF produces ISCC PLUS and REDcert2-licensed BMBCert DMAPA at its manufacturing sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany; and Geismar, Louisiana, the United States. BASF decrease the cradle-to-gate product carbon footprint (PCF) through changing fossil feedstock with certified renewable resources at the starting of the value chain. A corresponding amount of renewable content material is attributed to the product in line with a mass balance method. In addition, BASF uses renewable electricity within the production of BMBCert DMAPA, further decreasing its PCF.

Avinash Nandanwar, Head of Sourcing and Sustainability, Galaxy Surfactants, stated, “As a corporation dedicated to allowing responsible beauty and home care solutions, we are continuously comparing approaches to reduce our carbon footprint without compromising on product performance. This collaboration with BASF permit us to innovate with reason and provide our customers sustainable, science-backed solutions like Galaxy CAPB SB, which meets the developing worldwide requirement for high-efficacy yet environmentally conscious formulations.”

Joachim Schmidt-Leithoff, Vice President of Business Management Amines, Acetylenics and Carbonyl Derivatives, Intermediates Asia Pacific, BASF, stated, “We are excited about the development we’ve got made in our sustainability partnership with Galaxy Surfactants. This aligns perfectly with our vision of being the desired companion for sustainable intermediates for our clients.”

Galaxy CAPB SB is cocamidopropyl betaine, a flexible liquid cosmetic ingredient. As an amphoteric surfactant, it excels in numerous functions, along with biodegradability, exceptional foaming, foam enhancement, and foam balance. In the world of hair care, Galaxy CAPB SB reduces static, lowers static price, prevents build-up, and makes styling less difficult, making sure a flyaway-decreasing experience. It also finds applications in bath and shower products, along with body washes, shower gels, liquid soaps, and bubble baths.

DMAPA, highly biodegradable, is an vital building block for betaines, which might be used to create mild liquid soaps, shampoos and dishwashing detergents. DMAPA is the reason why shampoos do not sting the eyes and are gentle to the skin. DMAPA is also utilized in water treatment in addition to within the manufacturing of plant protection products, lubricant additives, polyurethane foams and epoxy resin hardeners. BASF is one of the world’s main DMAPA producers, with manufacturing sites in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Recently, it has a complete manufacturing potential of 70,000 metric tons per annum.
