BASF constructing new electronic grade ammonium hydroxide plant in Ludwigshafen

Germany’s BASF has declared the construction of an electronic grade ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH EG) plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in help of wafer cleaning, marking and other precision methods in semiconductor production. Operations are predicted to begin in 2027.

“This essential ultra-pure chemical will guide the development and growth of semiconductor corporations in Europe, ensuring a sturdy local supply chain for the manufacturing of advanced chips,” the corporation stated in a press announcement.

With numerous new chip production plants being built or expanded in Europe, there is an progressively more strong demand for high quality and high-purity semiconductor-grade chemicals, such as ammonium hydroxide.

BASF stated the new plant will support meet the necessities of a “near cooperation partner” who is presently constructing a new chip manufacturing plant in Europe.

BASF stated it’s investing in the semiconductor chemical cost chain primarily based on mutual long-term customer-supplier commitments with its strategic partners.

The ammonium hydroxide manufactured at the new plant will be crucial for advanced nodes chip technology, allowing the next generation of semi conductors that are essential for main European industries, together with automotive and AI.

“This new investment no longer only enhances our capabilities however also supports our commitment and our appearance to assist the semiconductor industry in Europe,” stated Mr.Gops Pillay, President, Global Operating Division, BASF.

BASF is a main dealer of high-purity single bulk chemicals and specialized chemical formulations crucial for semiconductor production. The corporation provides a comprehensive portfolio of materials often used in semiconductor manufacturing strategies, consisting of cleansing, etching, photo, steel deposition, and chemical mechanical planarization.
