ARLANXEO, a global chief in overall performance elastomers, has formally launched its new Therban hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) plant in Changzhou, China.
The facility reinforce ARLANXEO’s manufacturing footprint and capability to deliver high-quality elastomer solutions throughout China and the Asia-Pacific region, meeting increasing demand in sectors which include new energy, new mobility, and industrial applications.
The launch was joined by Faisal Mohammed Al Faqeer, ARLANXEO Shareholders’ Committee Chairman and Aramco Senior Vice President of In-Kingdom Liquids to Chemicals Development, along with ARLANXEO CEO Stephan van Santbrink, shareholders’ committee representatives, global and China leadership teams, customers, local authorities, partners, and community stakeholders.
“China is crucial in helping Aramco’s downstream development. ARLANXEO’s latest Therban HNBR plant is the most current exhibit of Aramco’s downstream growth strategy of portfolio expansion and incorporation, emphasizing our confidence in China’s development and production strength. We will look forward to reinforcing our cooperation and similarly facilitating to China’s high-quality and sustainable development,” stated Faisal Al Faqeer.
Stephan van Santbrink delivered, “Today’s launch signifies an crucial significant step for ARLANXEO and a robust representation of our long-term period commitment to China. We sincerely thank the Changzhou authorities, Aramco, and all stakeholders for their believe and continued assistance.
“With the new HNBR plant now fully operational, we are similarly incorporating our local manufacturing and R&D capabilities to reinforce the resilience of our global supply network. By supplying locally manufactured, high-quality rubber products, we will proceed to collaborate with our customers and increase application innovation, forming greater economic and social value across our value chain.”
The facility, formed with a manufacturing potential of 5,000 tons per year, produces high-overall performance Therban HNBR for require applications such as automotive elements, oil and gas systems, industrial system, aerospace, and next-era generation technologies. The first segment, manufactures 2,500 tons, was authorized in October 2025.
Located along ARLANXEO’s EPDM plant and Regional Technology Center (RTC) in Changzhou, the new plant elevates the corporation’s development-to-manufacturing capabilities and unlocks more downstream application potential throughout numerous industries.
The plant also demonstrates ARLANXEO’s commitment to protection, efficiency, and sustainability.
Advanced completing technology increases manufacturing efficiency and product consistency, at the same time as an incorporated thermal oxidation system reduces carbon emissions by around 80% in comparison to standard processes. Its closed-loop design recycles energy and gets rid of routine method wastewater, moreover lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Construction to complete operation was finished in 13-months with a perfect safety record, logging over 1.1 million man-hours without a single lost-time or recordable incident.
With the Changzhou facility now serving as the hub for China and Asia, ARLANXEO’s global HNBR network spans the Americas (Orange, USA), Europe (Leverkusen, Germany), and Asia (Changzhou, China).
