French chemicals firm, Arkema, and Semcorp, a China-based producer of lithium-ion battery separators, have signed a Memorandum of Under standing (MoU) to establish a collaboration target toward increasing innovation in battery separator technologies and assisting Semcorp in its international expansion.

As a part of this partnership, Arkema will gives value-added solutions and technical assist to bolster the deployment of Semcorp’s separators in main global markets, starting from electric vehicles and energy storage systems to consumer electronics. This collaboration also targets to help joint development projects focused on next-gene ration separators.

Separators play a crucial function in battery systems by preventing short circuits among the anode and cathode while facilitating ionic transport. Their design and material properties directly enhance battery safety, performance, thermal balance, and lifespan.
