Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd., a main carbon black manufacturer, has introduced the launch of a dedicated fleet of 8 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) powered tanker trucks. Intended for the vital freight of its raw material coal tar, the fleet will substantially reduce logistics-associated emissions at the same time as enhancing supply chain performance and reliability.
Mr. Vikram Handa, Managing Director, Epsilon Carbon, stated, “Road logistics is central to India’s economy, and as certainly one of the most important player in our region, we recognize the responsibility to make it cleaner and more efficient. The introduction of our LNG-powered tankers is a transformative step in improving raw material logistics, lowering emissions, and driving long-time period value for our stakeholders.”
Compared to conventional diesel vans, these advanced LNG tankers will provide significant CO₂ emission reduction with the aid of 20–25%, up to 90% less nitrogen oxides (NOx), and nearly a 100% fewer particulate be counted (PM) emissions. Also, LNG trucks normally acquire 5-10% better fuel performance, leading to optimized fuel consumption and long-time period operational cost advantages, the organization stated in a press note.
Each LNG tanker boasts an excellent operational range of about 730 kilometers, making it distinctly well-suited for efficient coal tar transportation. Epsilon plans to gradually introduce additional LNG tanker fleets.
Epsilon had introduced electric trucks in 2023 and LNG packing containers in July. “These projects will appreciably decrease Scope three emissions whilst increasing fuel performance and decrease long-time period operational expenses. By integrating both LNG and electric mobility solutions, Epsilon is constructing a diversified low-carbon logistics model and setting a brand new benchmark for sustainability in the Indian carbon industry,” the organization stated.
