Beginning in Q3 2026, Solvay will reduce it’s soda ash manufacturing at its Torrelavega, Spain facility from 600 kilotons to 420 kilotons in line per year. This updates, awaiting session, goals to enhance the corporation’s global asset competitiveness, while sodium bicarbonate operations will persist as normal.
This adjustment is an immediate response to challenging market conditions, which are described by international oversupply and the persistent high energy and carbon costs in Europe. Today’s measure is important for securing the long-term viability and sustainable future of the Torrelavega site’s closing manufacturing potential.

The Torrelavega site will target on delivering regional soda ash and premium sodium bicarbonate customers, using its proximity and long-term sustainability commitment.
