Evonik breaks ground on specialty amine manufacture in Nanjing

New facility supports the introduction of new specialty amines to commercial scale starting 2026

Evonik has officially damaged ground on its plant enlargement for specialty amines in Nanjing. This milestone underscores Evonik’s commitment to the development of the polyurethane and epoxy curing agent markets. The growth at the prevailing manufacturing site strengthens Evonik’s presence in China, a critical location for the corporation’s worldwide operations.

The enlargement represents a strategic funding inside the double-digit million euro variety, allowing Evonik to enhance its amine portfolio by using getting access to cost-effective raw material. By increasing production in China, Evonik strengthens its competitiveness and improves marketplace performance, optimizing its production network. This enlargement supports future market growth and aligns with Evonik’s worldwide amine strategy to similarly differentiate its product offerings.

“The groundbreaking of our new strong point amines plant is testament to Evonik’s strategic focus on expanding our capabilities in Asia and our self belief in its potential. China’s position as a competitive production hub is pivotal for each our regional and global enterprise strategies,” said, Dr. Claudine Mollenkopf, Head of Evonik’s Specialty Additives division. “This funding not only strengthens our position within the polyurethane and epoxy markets, but also highlights our commitment to sustainable growth and innovation.”

The Nanjing plant runs on green electricity and specializes in producing amine-based additives critical for industries along with construction, automotive, and furnishings. These additives play a huge role as catalysts at some stage in polyurethane foam formation. Innovative catalysts additionally reduce odor and VOC emissions. In November 2023, Evonik signed a Letter of Intent with the Nanjing authorities to extend the plant with construction to be completed in 2026.

“The amine growth venture is key to our business, allowing us to maintain serving our customers within the automotive, creation, furniture and customer goods markets with excessive-performance amine-based components,” stated Roberto Vila-Keller, Head of the Comfort & Insulation business line. “By expanding our production capabilities in China, bolstering our other sites in Japan and Singapore, we’re even higher located to fulfill the growing call for for sustainable polyurethane additive across the region.”
