Advanced Petrochemical To Add Unit at Jubail PDH-PP complex

Advanced Petrochemical Co. (APC) associate Advanced Polyolefins Industry Co. (APOC) has permitted an agreement to a consortium of SGC eTEC Co. Ltd. And SGC Arabia Co. Ltd. For the production of a brand new unit at the operator’s integrated propane dehydrogenation (PDH), polypropylene (PP) and isopropanol (IPA) complex below development at APC’s existing operations in Jubail Industrial City, on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast.

As part of the settlement, the consortium will supply engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the complicated IPA plant, if you want to have a manufacturing potential of 70,000 tonnes/year (tpy), APC stated in a Feb. 18 submitting to the Saudi Exchange.

The consortium’s scope of labor additionally covers all necessary offsites associated with the IPA plant, according to the operator.

APC valued the EPC contract—to be finished within 32 months from the contract award date of Feb. 17—at approximately $191.3 million.

Samsung Engineering Co. Became scheduled to finish the front-cease engineering and design (FEED) of the IPA plant in the 2nd quarter of 2023, in line with APC’s website.

Upon receiving the award, APC also confirmed the brand new IPA plant may be prepared with thyssenkrupp Uhde Engineering Services GMBH’s proprietary IPA manner.

The manner starts offevolved with direct catalytic hydration of propene to IPA, accompanied via a second step involving routing of recovered propylene to the reactor segment. The very last step entails purifying IPA within the unit’s distillation phase to achieve a technical-grade IPA purity of more than 99.9 wt % (dry foundation), consistent with the service provider’s website.

A fourth step for the production of beauty-grade IPA might require additional adsorptive deodorization steps, ThyssenKrupp stated.

This contemporary contract for the incorporated PDH-PP-IPA follows the operator’s previous award to a consortium of Tecnimont SPA and Tecnimont Arabia Ltd. For EPC at the venture’s PP units that will have a mixed manufacturing potential of 800,000 tpy.

LyondellBasell Industries NV subsidiary Basell Poliolefine Italia SRL will license its proprietary Spherizone and Spheripol technology for the complex’s PP vegetation, each of a good way to have a potential of 400,000 tpy, even as Lummus Technology LLC will deliver licensing of its proprietary CATOFIN era for the website online’s PDH plant to produce 843,000 tpy of propylene.

APC formerly engaged with Fluor Corp. In May 2020 to provide venture management consulting (PMC) for the included complex.

Incorporated in 2021 as a joint mission of APC subsidiary Advanced Global Investment Co. (85%) and SK Gas Co. Ltd. Subsidiary SK Gas Petrochemical Pte. Ltd. (15%), APOC will operate the integrated PDH-PP-IPA complex, APC stated in its maximum current full-earnings document to buyers for 0.33-area 2023.

With construction sports ongoing, APC informed buyers on Feb. 18 that the integrated complicated is scheduled to go into commercial operations by fourth-sector 2026.

APC currently produces 455,000 tpy of propylene and 450,000 tpy of PP at its existing Jubail Industrial City vegetation, in line with the employer’s internet site.
