CSG Launches New Service

CSG has become the primary waste management agency in the UK to put money into a handheld Raman spectrometer, helping groups and enterprises that produce chemical wastes to operate effectively and meet their felony responsibilities.

Previously the simplest way to pick out the contents of an unlabelled chemical box was to open it for sampling and analysis. CSG has invested in a Raman spectrometer which allows correct, thru-barrier identity of hazardous chemicals at clients’ sites, without the need for containers to be opened.

CSG or certainly one of its trusted partners can then set up to put off the chemicals compliantly and effectively.

Dr. Stuart Atkinson, who leads the Lab Chemical Waste Collection Team at CSG, said: “We are proud to be leading the enterprise in supplying a strategy to our clients for this common problem via making the unknown, recognized.

“It’s inevitable that businesses that produce risky waste turn out to be with packing containers without right labels, which could manifest for lots motives such as the label truly falling off.”

The Raman spectrometer can offer speedy outcomes on liquids or solids through sealed, clear, and colored glass and plastic opaque bins, or via analyzing the chemical at once in an open field, figuring out the chemical from an inbuilt database.

The tool works by scattering light from a high-intensity laser mild source, producing different wavelengths or shades to determine the chemical.

Raman spectroscopy has been efficiently utilized in hazmat response, regulation enforcement, and parcel screening at border management and may be used to identify very risky substances, including explosives and narcotics.

The handiest boundaries on the Raman spectrometer are chemicals that are in sealed packing containers via which the laser beam can not penetrate, including metallic tins.

Dr Stuart added: “We were currently able to use the Raman spectrometer at a university where we found 244 small containers of unknown chemicals. We finished the activity in just three days, efficiently identifying the unknown materials for disposal with very excessive levels of accuracy.

“We trust there are numerous bins of unknown chemicals across the US and we’re watching for huge demand for this new provider.”
