Adperma Pvt. Ltd., a completely owned subsidiary of Kolkata-based petrochemical maker Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. (HPL), will start commercial manufacturing of phenol and acetone at its Haldia facility at the end of December 2026. The plant was inaugurated on October 14, 2026.
Adperma explains the plant as India’s largest incorporated phenol and acetone production facility and the only incorporated phenol-acetone complex on the country’s East Coast. It is licensed by Lummus Technology and integrated with HPL’s present petrochemical complex, with propylene and benzene as feedstocks. The plant is designed to manufacture 345,000-tpa of phenol and 215,000-tpa of acetone.
The venture was developed at a total cost of Rs. 6,000-crore.
Adperma said the facility will reinforce domestic supply of phenol and acetone, utilized in laminates, plywood, adhesives, resins, paints, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals, and support reduce India’s reliance on imports. The company said it was set up to form an integrated specialty chemicals platform, drawing on HPL’s upstream feedstocks and production base, and will focus on downstream speciality chemical applications.
