Rajasthan-primarily based Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd. Stated business manufacturing of Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) in the form of prilled High Density Ammonium Nitrate (HDAN) — had started with effect from August 20, 2026, at its plant in Gadepan, Kota (Rajasthan).

This is part of the incorporated TAN-weak nitric acid venture, which has been under commissioning since earlier this year.

The venture indicates a capital investment of about Rs. 1,645-crore and adds 2.4-lakh tons in per annum of TAN capacity along with 2.1-lakh tons per annum of weak nitric acid capacity as an intermediate product.

The TAN plant utilises surplus ammonia manufactured internally at Chambal’s existing Gadepan urea complex, permitting the company to add a higher-margin, value-added industrial chemicals stream to its business without depending on external ammonia sourcing. Chambal operates three urea plants at Gadepan with a integrated annual capacity of about 3.4-million tons, along side round 1.3-million tons per annum of ammonia manufacturing, and is India’s largest private-sector urea manufacturer, accounting for around 15% of the country’s total urea output.

The TAN manufactured on the site is intended primarily for the domestic industrial and explosives markets, together with applications tied to infrastructure development and coal extraction in India.
