The investment objectives to improve supply dependability and decrease lead times for producers throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Nouryon, a specialty chemical company headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, stated it is expanding production capacity for its colloidal silica products at its production site in Guangzhou, China, to guide demand in catalyst and advanced coatings applications.
As per the company, the expansion will boom output of premium grades of colloidal silica utilized in emissions control catalysts, electrical steel coatings and non-stick coatings. The company stated bringing manufacturing in the direction of regional customers will allow shorter lead times and improve supply reliability for producers increasing industrial approaches.
Colloidal silica is utilized in emissions control catalysts to support meet environmental standards, in electrical steel coatings to enhance transformer energy efficiency and in coatings formulations to improve durability and performance, as per the company.
In a press announcement, the company stated the investment is planned to support development in Asia-Pacific markets wherein demand for advanced materials in catalyst and coatings applications keeps to increase.
The enlargement follows different latest investments in China, together with a capacity growth on the Jiaxing site to double manufacturing of triethylaluminum used as a co-catalyst in polyolefin production. As per the company, it also plans to start manufacturing of modified methylaluminoxane at the site in 2027 and open an organic peroxides innovation center in Tianjin in 2026 to assist polymer development.
The company stated those investments are targeted at reinforcing its ability to assist catalyst technologies, coatings formulations and polymer manufacturing in the region.
