Axens, a global chief in refining and petrochemical technologies, has been caught by America First Refining (AFR) to function the technology licensor for a main new refining facility on the Port of Brownsville, Texas. The venture marks the first new refinery constructed in the US in more than half a century.
Under the agreement, Axens will supply its modern refining technologies to lead the design and operation of the plant, consisting of important systems targeted toward raising overall performance and lowering energy use.
Axens has been included with the venture since 2017, participating intently with AFR entities to advance the development of a next-generation, purpose-built American energy facility.
The AFR refinery will use commercially tested technologies to correctly convert American shale oil into gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Once operational, it’s anticipated to process more than 60 million barrels per year of domestic crude, reinforcing US energy resilience and updating refining infrastructure.
“We’re proud to be chosen by America First Refining for this strategic venture—one of the rare new refinery developments in the US,” stated Tina Craft, Chief Executive Officer of Axens Americas.
“With Axens technologies for naphtha and diesel hydrotreating, persist catalytic reforming and isomerization, AFR will have a strong platform to provide high quality clean fuels with robust long‑term period overall performance. This selection underscores customers’ confidence in Axens’ end to end offer, from licensing to engineering, equipment, catalysts and services.”
The facility is developed to handle 100% American light shale oil, aligning US refining capacity with nowadays manufacturing developments. Strategically located at a deep-water port with access to global markets, the refinery goals to produce some of the cleanest fuels refined at scale in the nations While strengthening domestic supply chains.
