Navin Fluorine, a Padmanabh Mafatlal Group firm specializing in making fluorochemicals, has declared an agreement with US-primarily based chemicals company, Chemours Company, to manufacture and establish initial capability of Opteon two-phrase concentration cooling fluid – a exclusive product of Chemours.
Opteon addresses the increasing demands of data centres and AI hardware for high performance, endurable and cost-effective cooling solutions. The product goals to deliver enormous energy performance, decreasing water necessities in addition to a materially decrease physical footprint for data centres.
Under the settlement, Navin Fluorine will set up a production facility at Surat, Gujarat, at an estimated capex of $14-mn, which includes $5-mn of contribution by Chemours. The venture is anticipated to be operational throughout first quarter of FY27.
As market adoption deepens, Navin Fluorine and Chemours plan to explore alternatives to cater to higher demand.
The collaboration is part of Chemours’ newly expanded Liquid Cooling project, installed to address the developing heat, energy, and water requirements of data centres and AI hardware. “The partnership with Navin Fluorine marks an essential step closer to commercialization, offering crucial capabilities and capability – starting in 2026 – to guide the adoption of two phrase liquid cooling,” Chemours stated.
“The reality is, next generation chips alone can’t supply the AI boom; the computing and resource needs created by using this technology requires a new, incorporated approach. Our deep expertise in cooling uniquely positions us to help bridge this gap,” stated Ms. Denise Dignam, Chemours’ President and CEO. “Innovative liquid cooling solutions, like Opteon, can assist notably reduce data centre overall value of ownership by decreased energy, water, space, maintenance and capex demands, all at the same time as allowing next generation chip capability. Partnering with Navin Fluorine enables us to meet this essential market need,” she added.
Opteon fluid provides an ultra-low global warming capability (10), a power usage effectiveness (PUE) approaching 1, and advanced overall performance as compared to standard or different liquid cooling technologies. Nearly eliminating water use, reducing space requirements by 60%, and decreasing energy consumption via up to 40% and cooling energy use by up to 90%, this technology represents advantages for data centre operators and communities alike. The agreement with Navin Fluorine will carry this modern technology to marketplace quick and effectively.
“Joining forces with Chemours to produce their new liquid cooling technology advances our mission to produce high-quality, innovative, and sustainable, excessive-growth-capability products within the specialty chemicals sector, while assisting address a main industry challenge for data centres,” stated Mr. Vishad Mafatlal, Navin Fluorine, Executive Chairman.
