Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s UIF and Pune-based Praj Industries have partnered to offer integrated technology for Polylactic Acid (PLA) production.
Thyssenkrupp Uhde’s polymer specialists Uhde Inventa-Fischer (UIF), and Praj Industries, a Pune-primarily based business biotechnology solutions provider, have joined hands to offer an end-to-end integrated technology for the manufacturing of Polylactic Acid (PLA).
PLA, as a sustainable option to conventional plastics, holds vast ability in advancing a circular bioeconomy. Praj and UIF are using their combined expertise in industrial biotechnology and chemical engineering to improve PLA technology, making sure of efficient, cost-effective and sustainable manufacturing procedures.
Ms. Nadja Håkansson, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Uhde, stated, “Uhde’s PLAneo procedures can now be provided as an incorporated solution with Praj’s lactic acid manufacturing. Together, we are able to design and supply entire PLA plant. Our joint vision is a competitive solution to replace conventional plastics with sustainable options.”
Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder Chairman, at Praj: “Praj’s Bioprism portfolio for renewable chemicals and materials, with a target point on bioplastics, underscores our commitment to a sustainable future. Our strategic partnership with Uhde marks a vast step in driving the worldwide shift in the direction of a circular economy by permitting cost-effective biomanufacturing and the established order of biorefineries. With our award-winning proprietary Planera-technology and this collaboration, our goal is to challenges posed via fossil-based plastics and contribute to a more sustainable planet with revolutionary, bio-based solutions.”
The partnership could be capable of offer an end-to-end incorporated technology, masking the whole PLA production technique from feedstock conversion to polymer production. Different grades of lactic acid may be produced from this technology which find applications in food and industrial sectors.
Praj these days inaugurated India’s first-of-its-kind ‘Demonstration Facility for Biopolymers’ close to Pune, where it’s far producing lactic acid and lactide. This facility will serve as a essential platform for testing out and validating the joint providing, permitting the partners to showcase the capability of PLA and accelerate its commercialization.
