This production could be the first in Russia and the CIS nations to provide all varieties of polymerization catalysts – polyethylene and polypropylene
SIBUR has determined to begin construction of catalyst factory for petrochemistry in the second quarter of this year. SIBUR’s new funding venture will permit the development and manufacturing of these special additives to be combined at one site.
This manufacturing would be the first in Russia and the CIS countries to manufacture all varieties of polymerization catalysts needed to attain the most popular synthetic materials – polyethylene and polypropylene.
Taking into account the funding ventures already carried out via SIBUR and different enterprises, this parent may more than double via 2030. By now, the development of design documentation for the construction of the primary line – the manufacturing of chromium catalysts – has been entirely completed.
The catalyst manufacturing can be located in close proximity to SIBUR’s flagship studies and development center, expected to be released in 2026.
The first facilities to be built in the venture may be those for the manufacturing of chromium catalysts. This form of catalyst is used at Kazanorgsintez, ZapSibNeftekhim, and within the future can be used at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex. Chromium catalysts are essential in the manufacturing of film and blown polyethylene grades, used, among different matters, for the manufacturing of canisters, bottles, and fuel tanks. Completion of construction and release of manufacturing is predicted in 2027.
In the future, five more procedure lines will be built, with a purpose to ensure the manufacturing of two varieties of metallocene catalysts and 2 varieties of titanium catalysts. The sixth procedure line will release the manufacturing of silica gel, utilize as a carrier for catalytic systems. The bulk of the procedure equipment for organizing the factory’s work may be localized.
