Greenworksbio, a Hyderabad-based sustainable packaging solutions provider, has joined arms with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research

Indian Institute of Chemical Technology ( CSIR-IICT ) to expand sustainable, excessive-performance bioplastics and their composites using agricultural waste.

The strategic alliance edge advanced research and innovation to harness nano-cellulose and starch-primarily based compostable plastics derived from renewable assets, consisting of agricultural residues and biomass, to provide eco-friendly options to conventional single use plastics, said the corporation, that is promoted by the kin of Apollo Hospitals institution promoters.

By the joint development of higher level mechano chemical processing techniques, renewable assets are converted into reinforced thermoplastic starch (R-TPS) and cellulose-derived composites that reveal unexpected mechanical power, advanced barrier properties, and more advantageous thermal resistance, Greenworksbio handling director Rishika Reddy stated.

The alliance also efficaciously developed bolstered biocomposites, which might be blends of biodegradable polymers which include polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), and starch, and are similarly optimised with nano-cellulose reinforcements.

“These biocomposites display exceptional tensile energy, reduced sensitivity to moisture, and more suitable compostability. These properties make them perfect for packages which include packaging, convey luggage, waste series luggage, agricultural movies, and plenty more,” she defined.

She said the goods being evolved as a result of this collaboration have a excessive load-bearing capability but are thinner, reducing cloth utilization, and feature progressed transparency.

“These products attain over 90% biodegradation with in a 180 days underneath composting situations, adhering to ISO/IS 17088 standards. They are certified by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and might help reduce environmental waste extensively,” she delivered.

Greenworksbio already installation a 1,000 metric tonnes per month facility at the medical devices park at Sultanpur in which it’ll make compostable granules, eco-friendly tableware, sustainable hygiene solutions, amongst others, she stated.
