15 students hospitalized after ‘chemical gas’ leak in Kota dist.

Fifteen students of a government secondary school in Gadepan village, Kota, suffered dizziness, eye irritation, and respiration problem

On Saturday morning, following an claimed chemical gas release from Chambal Fertilizers and Chemical Limited (CFCL). Moreover, CFCL management refused any chemical leak from the plant.

The incident happened around 10:15am throughout school prayers whilst students mentioned a sturdy chemical odour coming from the path of CFCL. This showed to many students suffering discomfort. Surendra Nagar, a school teacher, showed the students’ symptoms, inclusive of dizziness and respiratory problems.

At 10:30am, about 5-6 students, generally girls, suffered intense symptoms, prompting an instant response from authorities. They were taken to CFCL’s hospital, and soon after, an additional 8-10 students confirmed similar symptoms. 6 students with more intense complications were related to hospitals in Kota, inclusive of JK Lon and MBS hospitals.

Kota Medical College principal, Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, confirmed that all students were stable and in communication. She stated, “An evolved ambulance with 6 medical staff transferred to Gadepan village.”

District collector Dr. Ravindra Goswami, together with senior police officers, visited on the scene. Talking to the media, Goswami stated, at least 15 students had suffered health problems, with 6 taken for in more examination. The remaining students have been discharged after receiving primary care. “All the students in hospital are out of danger and their situation is stable. An investigation has been started to find the purpose of the health complications, with the Pollution Control Board tasked to submit a record,” he stated.

Kota-Bundi MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla interfered, directing to authorities to ensure right hospital treatment. CFCL, moreover, maintained that no chemical leakage happened and claimed that an investigation might decide the nature of the gas involved.

The incident has drawn attention from nearby politicians, with Kota South MLA Sandeep Sharma and district BJP president Rakesh Jain visiting the hospital to assure families and consult with hospital staff.

During, CFCL Gadepan plant head Ajay Tayal, stated, “‘There was no chemical gas release or leakage from our plant in the morning and the incident in nearby school isn’t always due to the factory.” He brought, “It is an matter of investigation to what gas theschool students were exposed to.”
