Clariant is introducing its new AddWorks titanium based catalyst solutions for the sustainable manufacturing of polyesters, along with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at K 2025.

Set to be Industrially available in 2026, this technology offers a high performance options to traditional antimony based catalysts, while also permitting heavy metal-free polyester manufacturing.

While the initial target is on PET because of its big worldwide market, Clariant’s titanium based catalyst solutions are designed to operate throughout the entire polyester family.

The titanium based catalyst technology reflects a considerable advancement in polyester manufacturing, allowing superior performance even as being more secure for people and the environment via lower environmental mobility and toxicity, and decreased risk of bioaccumulation.

“Our AddWorks titanium based catalyst technology marks an crucial shift in polyester production,” stated Mariano Suarez Head of Marketing Additives at Clariant. “By allowing lower processing temperatures and casting off heavy metals from the manufacturing procedure, we’re supporting our customers acquire their sustainability aims while concurrently improving their operational efficiency and product quality.”

The innovation comes at a crucial time for the polyester industry, which faces increasing uncertainty following China’s implementation of antimony export controls effective since 2024. As China represents a big global supplier of antimony – a main factor in traditional polyester catalysts – these restrictions have generated significant supply chain challenges for producers worldwide.

“We established this technology with a dual target on sustainability and overall performance,” Emilie Meddah, Market Manager Additives at Clariant defined. “Our clients are gradually confronting pressure from regulators and consumers to reduce environmental effect without compromising product quality. AddWorks titanium-based catalyst solutions address both issues simultaneously, presenting a actually future-proof alternative for polyester manufacturing.”

The solution is in specifically valuable for polyester resin producers, fiber producers, PET recyclers, and technology licensors looking for to differentiate their providing in an increasing number of sustainability-conscious market. By allowing the manufacturing of heavy metal-free polyester, Clariant’s technology also supports brand owners in meeting evolving clients requirements and regulatory necessities.
