Chemical Plant Fire in Pennsylvania Injures thirteen

OSHA to investigate fire and outburst at Parker Lord’s Saegertown plant

A fire and outburst on Feb. 9 at a Parker Lord chemical plant in Saegertown, Pennsylvania, headed to at least 13 injuries and large damage to the facility.

6 firefighters and 7 plant employees were taken to the medical institution with minor injuries.

As of Feb. 11, the viable reason of the accident was no longer without instantly known. Operations at the facility are suspended as the damage is assessed, Christopher Farage, vice president of international HR and external affairs for Cleveland-based totally Parker Hannifin, the figure company of Parker Lord, stated in an e-mail to the Erie Times-News.

Administration elevated a refuge-in-place order for tenants around the facility as soon as the fire become extinguished.

Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said Saegertown’s air quality is good and could stay watched, as will water quality.

Parker Lord Corporation. In Saegertown is a specialty chemicals, adhesives and coatings porducing facility with greater than 235 employees.

The facility recently undergoes an $80 million enlargement in 2023, including 75,000 square-feet to its already existing 250,000 square-foot facility, stated news station WJET.

A spokesperson from The Occupational Safety and Health Administration stated it might look at the incident.
